Queensland Country Bank Stadium welcomes weddings, parties, anything for summer

After a season of big NRL hits, events season has hit Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with the venue hosting its first ever on-field corporate event.

Around 250 people attended a mystery event under the stars on the weekend, with John Flynn College choosing the venue after seeking something a little left-field for their end of year celebration.

Queensland Country Bank Stadium A/Manager Mirella Taylor said the stadium’s potential extended well beyond major events.

“Organisers really let their imaginations run wild and decked out the entire stadium in college colours, with students treated to canapés under festoon lighting, dinner on the field of play, a comedy show and photo reel on the big screen,” Ms Taylor said.

“It was a huge success and really shows the sky is the limit when it comes to the events we can host and we’re hoping it’s the first of a series of such events over the next few months,” she said.
“Today we’re really excited to announce a Melbourne Cup luncheon, complete with live music and fashions on the field as part of an effort to build local events, particularly while COVID-19 has put other events on hold,” she said.

“Despite the disruption the pandemic has caused, locals really embraced the new stadium in our first NRL season, with over 100,000 total attendees and we’re hoping that enthusiasm will extend to the off-season too.”

Pandanus Catering Director of Hospitality James Nicholson said the organisation was capable of hosting a large array of different events.

“Corporate lunches, comedy shows, awards night, conferences, you name it, we can do it, but I’m most looking forward to some avid Cowboys fans posing for wedding photographs under the goal posts!” Mr Nicholson said.

“We’ve got small private suites for meetings, terraces for cocktail parties, function rooms for conferences or even the field of play for something extra special, like we saw on Saturday night, so if you’re keen on an event let us help you build one!”
